Description: We will explore a boulder field on the shady north side of Kennesaw Mountain.
Location & Directions: I-75 Exit 267B to GA-5 Spur S, 1.4 mi to R on Church St Ext, 0.6 mi to L on Old US-41 Hwy, 1.2 mi to L on Stilesboro Rd, L to parking at Visitor Center.
Meet At: 1:30pm Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park – outside the Visitor Center. Park address: 900 Kennesaw Mountain Dr. Kennesaw, GA 30152. There is a $5 daily use fee, unless you have a Senior or Annual Pass.
Bathroom Facilities: At the Visitor Center.
Walking Difficulty: Easy; we will mostly stick to slightly rolling trails near the foot of the mountain. Walking shoes/hiking boots are recommended.
Bring: iNaturalist or the Google Lens app on your smartphone will aid with plant identifications. Bring a fern field guide if you have one.
