Description:   We will begin our walk along a spring fed lake into old woods covered in Jacob’s Ladder – Polemonium reptans, Slender Toothwort – Dentaria heterophylla, Buckeye – Aesculus, Bloodroot remains – Sanguinaria canadensis, Dwarf Larkspur – Delphinium tricorne and many large hardwood trees.  Coming out we will walk through hayfields that will lead us to a large spring surrounded by spicebush – Lindera benzoin and then around another lake.  Beyond will bring us to a forested treasure of Wild Comfrey – Cynoglossum virginianum, Lanceleaf Trillium – Trillium lancifolium, Solomons Seal – Polygonatum biflorum, Golden Alexander – Zizia trifoliata, Eastern Blue Star – Amsonia tabernaemontana and special Eastern Shooting Star – Primula meadia, along the creek.   Again we will be under large hardwoods and with understory Paw paws, Maples, etc.  Our entire  property is protected by a conservation easement granted to the  Georgia Alabama Land Trust and a 18.956 acre portion of our land  bordering these woods is threatened by a GA Power substation expansion.

Bathroom Facilities:   Bathroom available at house.

Walking Difficulty:   Easy walk, mostly flat but please bring walking/hiking poles if needed for uneven ground.

Bring:   Wear hiking shoes, a hat, water and walking poles if needed. Optional lunch afterwards.
