Description: Rising Fawn Gardens is a private farm on the western slope of Lookout Mountain. Southern hardwood forest and open fields provide ideal habitat for a unique diversity of plants, animals, and insects. We expect to see sweet little Betsy (Trillium cuneatum), the Lookout Mountain trillium (tentatively named Trillium freemanii), lanceleaf trillium (Trillium lancifolium), Virginia bluebells (Mertensia virginica), larkspur (Delphinium tricorne), goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis), firepink (Silene virginica), shooting stars (Primula meadia), and others. We will visit three areas, an old roadbed along the side of Lookout Mountain, and two stretches along Lookout Creek. Note – the order will be determined when we get there.
