Can anyone identify this plant? I think it is in the genus Amaranthus. It is around 9 feet tall and is growing in the desert southwest of Arizona. These pictures were originally posted on the Arbor Day website as trees, but obviously they are herbaceous plants and not woody. They may be an annual weed.
