My girlfriend and I were paddling in the Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge, Steven Foster side) when I spotted this beauty on the canoe trail.  It was late spring, I believe in April of last year, when this picture was taken.  I have searched high and low and cannot seem to find a reference to it.  Please help.  I cannot even be elevated to the "Duffer" realm of botany so I need the experts to enlighten me.

Okay, if I did something wrong and the picture doesn't show up, I will be hiding out with Waldo so you can't find me.

Thanks  Phil

Phil,

I'm pretty sure the plant pictured is Leucothoe racemosa (Coastal fetterbush or sweetbells). Do a Google search for Images and type the scientific name or either click on, or copy and paste the link below, which should carry you there and see if you don't agree.

Best regards,
Richard
