Red Top Mountain State Park Plant Inventory (5/30/2009)

We had a nice day in relatively remote parts of the park. We managed to identify over 100 species in about 4 hours of effort. Highlights of the day for me were featherbells (
Stenanthium gramineum
variety
gramineum
) and clasping-leaved milkweed (
Asclepias amplexicaulis
), plus a really neat purple fungus.
I really would like to encourage more folks to come out and participate in these State Park inventories.

I'm no botanist, and I don't even play one on TV.

This is where a signature would be, if I had one.
