Description: Join National Park Service Ranger Jerry Hightower for a hike though a beautiful forest under some of the largest Big Leaf Magnolias in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. Enjoy the abundance of native ferns, wildflowers, and flowering shrubs. Discover how Native Americans and early settlers used many of these plants in their daily lives. Find signs of the rich and diverse wildlife that calls this extraordinary natural enclave home.
Location: We will meet in the City of Roswell Park parking area on Oxbow Road along Vickery Creek.
Facilities: None
Difficulty: Moderately easy
Bring: Remember to dress for the weather and wear very comfortable hiking shoes. Dress in layers so that you can adjust to changes in the temperature and your activity level. You may wish to bring binoculars, hand lens, notebook, and camera.
Note: $3 daily entrance fee or $25 annual pass is required.
