Please help us at a volunteer workday Saturday, March 21, 2009, 9:45 am-12 noon

The rains came and the workday was rechedulred to the 21st.

Reynolds Nature Preserve continues to be threatened by invasive exotic plants such as kudzu, privet and English Ivy. If we wish Reynolds Nature Preserve to have a future as a native plant area, these invasive foreign plants need to be controlled!

If you visit Reynolds before this date, ask staff to tell you about the invasives there and their work in trying to control them. If you have questions about the workday, call Reynolds Nature Center at 770-603-4188 or email one of us (Invasive Plant Committee of the Reynolds Board of Trustees):
Anne McCallum: (amccmallum5762@mindspring.com)
Helen Brown: (helenbotany@yahoo.com)
Frank Hiller: (frankhiller@bellsouth.net) & Shirley Watterson
Reynolds Staff: (Stephanie.Berens@co.clayton.ga.us) (Will.Wagner@co.clayton.ga.us)

Please call or email to register for the workday (or join us last minute without registering if you find you are able to come Saturday morning).

We will meet at the Nature Center at 9:45 am for instructions, from where we will leave to pull ivy and privet from selected areas of the preserve.

Please wear long pants and long sleeves as protection from briars and the limited poison ivy… please bring work gloves and clippers if you have them!

Join us after the pull for grilled hot dogs (there IS such thing as a free lunch!)

Clayton County has an environmental treasure at present—we want Reynolds to continue as such. Please help us. We look forward to seeing you for a productive morning of work!

Remember, if you volunteered during the March 2008 invasive plant pull, you will receive your complimentary Reynolds t-shirt, awarded upon completion of two workdays.
