Montezuma Bluffs Natural Area Trilliums, Macon County

Description: We can visit several areas. Deer and swine browse permitting, there should be abundant toothwort, Trillium reliquum, Trillium maculatum, Phlox divaricata, hepatica, bloodroot. If there is sufficient interest, we can view a near champion Quercus rubra, and a disjunct Quercus arkansana.
Directions: TApproximately 2.2 mi north of Montezuma on GA 49, turn left to travel west on Crooks Landing Road. In less than 1 mile, the road will begin to descend sharply, and you will see a large graveled parking area on the north side of the road.
Meet At: Parking area, Crooks Landing Road.
Lunch: Survivors will be welcome to come to my house after the ordeal for refreshments.
Facilities: None.
Walking: Easy trail, <1 mi. Off trail in newer areas, the walking, clambering and sliding can be strenuous and dirty. Please make responsible and courteous decisions regarding participation.
