Here is a chance for you to help the birds and enjoy a few hours with like-minded people in a beautiful place. The Georgia important Bird Areas folks need help collecting seeds from native warm-season grasses that will used by Georgia Department of Natural Resources to restore native grasslands.  Seeds will be sown by hand next spring to increase to restore this habitat and benefit grassland bird habitat.  The seeds are unique because they are “native phenotype”, direct descendents of the plants that were here prior to European settlement.

Seed collection will be on Saturday and Sunday, November 8 and 9.

On Saturday November 8, seed collection wil be at Panola Mountain State Park on from 1 to 4 pm. (The Georgia important Bird Areas folks also will also be banding birds this day beginning at 7am and all are welcome to attend)

On Sunday, November 9, seed collecting will be at Sprewell Bluff State Park.
