USGS Field Guide on Lichens and Bryophytes in Western US DrylandsUSGS has a new field guide on lichens and bryophytes (mosses, liverworts) that coversthe common lichens and bryophytes found in biological soil crusts in the western US drylands. It has excellent pictures, keys and distribution maps for 65+ species commonly encountered. It is intended for field use so the keys emphasize characteristics distinguishable in the field, rather than those needing a microscope. This field guide can be obtained by emailing
